Winter Hat
I started with a free pattern, found here, but ended up changing it up. I used Worsted Weight Yarn (10 ply) and an I hook (5.5 mm). I did 72 chains, but you can increase or decrease the size of the hat by adding or removing in 8 stitch groupings. The stitches that resemble flakes or petals are apparently called the lush stitch, and I found several videos on YouTube that helped me figure it out since the website instructions were not very clear.
I changed the top of the hat (after 4 repeats of the pattern) into decreasing double crochets.
