Another Great Spider Mambo Design

If you couldn't tell, I am a huge fan of Spider Mambo patterns.  This is another one of the patterns I was lucky enough to test for Spider Mambo.  You can find the pattern on Ravelry here, but you really should check out all her other patterns, too.  I love them.

I almost didn't do the flower and leaves around each skull.  Instead, I gave it a try and I am so thrilled I did.  They are really easy and quick, but wow- so pretty and delicate.  I can definitely think of lots of places to add these.  Beautiful.

Creepy Pirate Hat

This beanie-style hat is another great design from Spider Mambo.  The pattern can be found here.

I found these awesome skull and crossbone buttons on Ebay.  I have a ton left over.  What else should I add these to?

Granny Infinity Square Skull

I love this take on the traditional granny square.  This pattern allows you to replace any and all traditional square items you may make with a fun skull pattern.  Think of all the awesome projects you can create with this adaptable pattern (blankets, parts of blankets, wash cloths, hats, coasters, hot pads, and so on...)

You Don't Know Jack Slouch Hat

Made as a gift, this adorable Jack Skull Hat works up quickly using worsted weight yarn.

Flaming Skulls Backpack

Test Pattern!  I especially love the flames behind the skulls.  

I made the small, one strand version of this pack. The lining makes the pack extra sturdy. I really like it.

The body is about 12.5”x12.5”. I made my strap about 40” in length. As the time this post was written, the pattern had not been published, but look for it on the designer's page soon.  

Plus size skull jacket

Another test pattern!  I made the size 2x version.  I used an I (5.5mm) hook.  Of the MC, I used about 788 yards or 14.84 ounces.  For the CC, I used 400 yards or about 8.48 ounces.  Both are ww yarn.

The chest is 50" now that I added the border.  I added four extra rows to the length.

I made the tapered sleeves on this version.  For the sleeves, I added 13 rows before I started the decrease rows in the tapered pattern.  The 13 does not include the four rows made in the original hexagon.

Skull Hexagon Hoodie- Size Small

I tested a pattern for this adult sized hoodie.

Test Pattern- Children's Skull Hexagon Hoodie

This is another test pattern I created.  Here is a link to the designer's currently available patterns.

This pattern called for as few as two yarns or as many as desired.  I made this in a child's 7/8 for my niece, Esme.  She doesn't know it yet, but I guess she does now.  :)

This pattern calls for an I hook (5.5 mm).  The pattern calls for at least two skeins of ww yarn of at least 364 yards each.  I ended up using yarns I had left over since I used 4 different skeins.

At the time of the picture, I had not yet added buttons.

skull cowl

I have been working on various projects lately, but few have made their way here to the blog.  I have not been great about updating any of my blogs lately.

One item I finished yesterday was this little skull cowl.  What's a cowl, you may ask?  This page has a great explanation and pictures of what a cowl, infinity scarf, and mobius shawl look like and what the difference between each term is.  I found the cowl information especially interesting.

This cowl was inspired by several of the skull items found on Ravelry, but is my own take on these patterns.  That means I cannot give you a link to the pattern currently.  That said, if anyone is ever interested in a pattern, I should be able to put something together for you.

On to the cowl:

This particular pattern was made with a soft, ww yarn in a cream color and a size D crochet hook.  The cowl is approximately 12" long, making it perfect for bunching up around the neck.
