Happy Valentine's Day!

A friend emailed me looking for a hat with a brim and flower pattern.  After I searched around, I found several cute ones on Ravelry.  It also inspired me to try out one of the patterns I found.  The result is above.  You can get the pattern yourself here.  The instructions also allow for a band instead of a brim.  The hat works up quickly and I would like to try a brimless version, too.

Zig Zag Hat

No pattern to share on this one, but there are a ton of these available already.  I wanted a simple beanie and I like how this one turned out.  I used worsted weight (4 ply) yarn and an I (5.5 mm) hook.

I Love Cats Hat

Another fun Spider Mambo Designs pattern.  I made this using my leftover worsted weight (4 ply) yarn and an I (5.5 mm) hook.

Where's Waldo?

I love this little Where's Waldo hat from Repeat Crafter Me's website.  The pattern works up very quickly and makes a great winter hat.

Another Great Spider Mambo Design

If you couldn't tell, I am a huge fan of Spider Mambo patterns.  This is another one of the patterns I was lucky enough to test for Spider Mambo.  You can find the pattern on Ravelry here, but you really should check out all her other patterns, too.  I love them.

I almost didn't do the flower and leaves around each skull.  Instead, I gave it a try and I am so thrilled I did.  They are really easy and quick, but wow- so pretty and delicate.  I can definitely think of lots of places to add these.  Beautiful.

Creepy Pirate Hat

This beanie-style hat is another great design from Spider Mambo.  The pattern can be found here.

I found these awesome skull and crossbone buttons on Ebay.  I have a ton left over.  What else should I add these to?

Snoopy Happy Dance Hat

I made this adorable Snoopy hat for a friend's toddler.  This particular friend loves all things Peanuts, so I think she will be quite surprised by this hat.  This is a free pattern on Ravelry that can be found here.  It works up quickly and the instructions are easy to read if you are familiar with patterns.  Even the adult sizes would not use a lot of yarn, which is worsted weight (10 ply).

The Coven Hat

This awesome hat pattern is available on Ravelry from Spider Mambo Designs.  A cackling coven of witches circle the brim of the hat.  Frighteningly cool!

You Don't Know Jack Slouch Hat

Made as a gift, this adorable Jack Skull Hat works up quickly using worsted weight yarn.

Free Pumpkin Hat Pattern

I am offering my first pattern on Ravelry.  And it is FREE!  This is my take on the ever popular pumpkin hat that is making the rounds in the crochet pattern world.  Please go get a copy and let me know if you give it a try!  I would love to see your results!

SHARK ATTACK!

I love this free pattern from Repeatcrafterme.com.  You can find the pattern on Ravelry here.

The shawl my mannequin happened to be wearing mimicked the flowing blood from the shark's bite perfectly.  Thanks to my 14 year old for noticing and pointing that out.  :)

This pattern uses a small amount of ww yarn in various colors.  I also used the H hook to complete the entire hat.  Instead of the eyes referenced in the pattern, I used safety eyes stuck through a round of hdcs.  The shark's fin is stuffed with a small amount of Fiberfill.

I made this as a surprise and I hope the recipient likes it!

Reflective hat

I made a simple hdc hat from the reflective yarn (Red Heart Reflective in Neon Yellow.)  I figured this would be great for my son when he's out at night.  I used a J (6.0 mm hook) and started with a magic ring, 12 hdc and increased by row until 72 hdc.  I made the hat 8" from the crown.  The last row had every fourth stitch hdc together.

In the pictures-  The first is taken inside during the day with no other outside (lamps, etc.) lighting.  The second picture was taken with the flash.  The third picture was taken at night while the work was still in progress with only the camera flash and no other outside lighting.
