Dragon Scale Bonnet Slouch

I made two of the Dragon Scale Bonnet Slouch hats from Spider Mambo designs.  For both designs, I used an I hook (5.5 mm).  For one, I used a worsted weight yarn (10 ply).  For the other, which I turned into a beanie instead of a bonnet, I used Red Heart Unforgettable Boutique yarn.  These are the end results.  I left off the pom-poms as suggested in the pattern.  I have seen some other people create some really cute hats from this pattern using a solid and varigated yarn.

Heart Square

A fellow crocheter had recently posted a picture of a blanket made from this bobble heart square, and so I wanted to attempt the square to see if it was easy to do.  There is a family wedding in the near future and I thought about making a blanket for the couple, but wanted to give this square a try before I jumped in.

The pattern is free on Ravelry.  Instead of a written out pattern, it is a graph pattern.  Although I have not done a lot of graph patterns, this one is easy to follow and the designer did a good job explaining the stitches.  The finished square for me ended up being just about 8.5 x 8.5" using an I (5.5 mm) hook and worsted weight (10 ply) yarn.

The picture above is not blocked, but the square does work up relatively quickly.  If you are not familiar with following graphs, I think this is a pretty good one to start with.

I am still not certain what I will make with the finished square, but I will definitely be making more of these.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A friend emailed me looking for a hat with a brim and flower pattern.  After I searched around, I found several cute ones on Ravelry.  It also inspired me to try out one of the patterns I found.  The result is above.  You can get the pattern yourself here.  The instructions also allow for a band instead of a brim.  The hat works up quickly and I would like to try a brimless version, too.

Frambloosje

This sweet little girl is a free Ravelry pattern which can be found here.  I used worsted weight (4 ply) yarn from my leftover project yarn and a 2.5 mm crochet hook.  Her dress and hat are made from the popcorn stitch.  The only safety eyes I had were larger than the 3 mm eyes called for in the pattern, but I still like how she turned out.

Love Bug

This cute little love bug can hold a variety of items.  The original, free pattern shows him holding a Dum Dum lollipop.

He works up fairly quickly.  I had him completely finished in less than an hour, including gathering all the pieces I needed to put him together.
