Lapghan

You may have noticed I am not updating as frequently as I once was.  Life has gotten busy.  In part, this is due to my father, who has had dementia for a number of years, needing to be admitted into a nursing home.  While I am there visiting, I decided to start working on lapghans that I can then give to some of the other patients who live there.  This is the first such lapghan that I finished.

There was no pattern used for this.  I made this from a granny square until I ran out of yarn.  This was made from three skeins of Caron Simply Soft Ombre in color Stormy Weather.  I used an I (5.5 mm) hook.

If you'd like to donate a lapghan to a lovely patient near my dad, please send me a message.  I know it will be well loved.  :)

Yarn Ball Stress Ball

I love this design.  What a great idea for a stress ball!

I filled it the same way as I did my simple stress ball, with two balloons filled with rice.  The second balloon is used only to keep the rice from spilling.

I did not use a pattern for this simple stress ball.  I filled it with a balloon filled with rice.  A second balloon is inside to protect from breaks.  It works great!

Spring Doll

I did not use a pattern for this little girl.  I did use some techniques I learned while doing recent patterns.  See if you can spot any of them.

Simple Floral Headband

The headband made from this free Ravelry pattern works up quickly and is so cute.  I added a button to make my headband adjustable, but you can also sew the ends together.  This is more of a recipe than a pattern, as you can make your own headband using any yarn/hook you would like.

Flower Pot Doll

This sweet little doll is a transformer!  Fold up her skirt and she turns into a flower in a pot.  So cute.  This was made from a paid Ravelry pattern.

Mystery Crochet-a-long

I participated in a mystery crochet-a-long created by this designer.

Each participant picked two colors of yarn and completed each part as it was released.  A new release was sent out every few days.  When everything was sewn together, I ended up with this little cutie.



Had I known what I was making, I probably would have picked different colors or even switched them.  But I love how this little guy turned out.  If you get a chance to join one of these mystery projects, I definitely recommend it!  So much fun!

This is a test pattern I did and I am so excited to share her.

This designer has wonderful patterns.  They are beautifully designed and easy to follow.  This is one you definitely should try.

Hexagon Market Bag

Here's what I did with those 10 African Flower Hexagons!

I used this pattern, but of course I made a few changes.  :)

First, I used the African Flower Hexagon instead of the hexagons as in the pattern.  I joined all the hexagons with a sc in the blo of each hexagon.  Finally, I did a fsc in place of the chains for each handle.

This is a great scrap buster project.

Tooth Fairy Pillow

 I made this fun little tooth fairy pillow for my niece that has her first wiggly tooth!  I used this free pattern, but made my own crown and pillow.

Bunny/Eggs

I made these little egg bunnies as a gift.  I did not use a pattern, but was inspired by this Etsy listing.

Still on my pin cushion kick...

I wanted a small pin cushion, so I followed the English version of this pattern up to round 7 (42 stitches per round.) I worked this all in one piece before adding the decorative stitches and flowers to each side.

Kitty Pin Cushion

I'm suddenly going through a pin cushion phase!



I followed this free pattern, BUT the instructions are not in English.  Between Google Translate and the pictures, I was able to figure it out pretty closely, I think.

I think I'm going to have to start sewing more to justify these pin cushions.  Anyone need a pin cushion?  :D

Hedgehog Pin Cushion

I love this little hedgehog.  I found this free pattern on Ravelry.  I used a 3 mm hook and worsted weight (10 ply) yarn.  I love how he turned out.  He has a cute little button nose.  So much fun to make.

Kissing Mice

This pattern is really easy.  My favorite thing about it is that the entire mouse is worked in one piece.  That means there is no additional sewing after!  These would make great little pet toys.

Carrot Top

Rounding out my Easter set was this sweet little Carrot Top.  I loved this so much and it was really fast to make.

Using different colors, I think this pattern would also make an adorable turnip.  :)
